4 days until we hit the road!

That’s right - we are in full swing with packing.  It really shouldn’t take us that long since we’ve had so much experience over the last year and a half.  It is keeping us busy, so it will be a little hard to post on the blog regularly (as if I’ve been doing even that), but I’ll try to put some stuff up!

Last weekend we went home to see the folks - mine and Chris’s - before moving.  We will miss them, but I’m sure we’ll be taking a number of trips home :)

Here is a pic of a piece of a tree that I saw while taking a walk in the woods by Chris’s folk’s house:

I just thought it looked interesting….

Okay - back to packing!

Last Day!

Today was my last day at work! I was at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation’s Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center (loooong title, no?) for 10 months as an Executive Assistant. This is what my office space looked like:

Nothing fancy - I don’t usually decorate my cube.

The Management Team got me a really nice cake with tons of icing. I’m not kidding - the frosting was at least 1/2″ thick - even between layers! My mom would have LOVED it!

Good Luck in the Big Apple Kim

Sometimes it sinks in that we’re actually moving, and sometimes it doesn’t. Right now it doesn’t. When we have 80 boxes in our apartment, it certainly will!

Eeeeeeeee!!

14 days to go

That’s right - in 14 days we will be in New York City! Yay! I’m so excited!

In the meantime, I have a million things to do to prepare. This is my last week of work and then next week we start packing. We’re waiting until the last minute because once we start, we will lose the living room, at minimum. This is what it looked like when we moved in:

Pretty cramped.  This is what it looks like now:

Apartment

Better, but still cramped.  Happily, we will be moving to a 2-bedroom so we can spread out and relieve some of this cabin fever.  Even the cat goes nuts.

Speaking of pets, my cousin Trina just got a new dog, Charlie:

Charlie Trina

So cute!  Trina also keeps me on my toes with the blogging - I know how it is to go to a site and see nothing new.  I mean - what else is one supposed to do at work - work?  What fun is that?

This one’s for you, T! :)

Okay - time to hit the hay.  Hopefully, I’ll have more things to post day by day.  Just been so busy these last few weeks of work…working…

Ciao!

Fun with cats

What’s more fun than playing peek-a-boo with the kitty?

Wearing fun kitty socks!

Yippie!

I think the DayQuil / NyQuil is affecting my brain.

Fight Fight Fight!

Germs on the left!
Germs on the right!
Stand up
Sit down
Fight Fight FIGHT!

Yay! Woo! Go white blood cells, go!

Fun fact: I was a cheerleader in high school.

Anyway, now instead of football players, I am cheering on my immune system to kick this stupid cold / cough that I have! I was supposed to be driving up to WI today to see my folks, my friend and my cousin, but instead I am spending my vacation day lying around the house watching “The People’s Court” and coughing. Damn you germs! I only have so many weekends left before we drive out to NY - give me a break! I fought cold after cold for the past two months - why now? Dangit!

Whew - all this typing has worn me out. Time to go lay down…
