Revolving doors

We’ve all seen them, haven’t we?

revolving door
–noun
1. an entrance door for excluding drafts from the interior of a building, usually consisting of four rigid leaves set in the form of a cross and rotating about a central, vertical pivot in the doorway.

They are shown being used on TV and movies (rather maniacally in the movie ELF), so why does it seem that wherever I go, there are two or three (or ten) people who don’t know how to use them? Just walk into the open space between the doors and PUSH! It’s that simple! Push until it rotates enough so you can exit the door and shop or do whatever it is that you’re there to do. Is that so hard? The only time it gets confusing is when the doors move automatically and you DON’T push. In that case, pushing actually causes the doors to stop completely, gumming up the whole works. It really isn’t helpful at all to have them turn automatically anyway, because they move … so … slooowwwly. I could get in and out faster using a regular old door on regular old hinges with a regular old doorknob.

Grumble grumble grumble …

Maybe it’s my own fault.

I have no PATIENCE.
