I’m still here!

I’m still here!

After many weeks and weeks of poor health, I am happy to report that I am FINALLY pretty much back to normal. I won’t commit to that yet, but I feel pretty good! 🙂

I just wanted to do a little shout out to my Dad, who was cringing when I told him I was singing Christmas carols while baking chocolate chip cookies. It is only October, for goodness sake! 😉

I will try to blog more going forward. I still need to clean up the posts that are currently up there. Chris was very, very helpful in finding my pictures that had disappeared while transferring to the new blog. They are up there now (THANK YOU, CHRIS). Now I just need to go through and categorize them correctly.

Slowly, but surely (and sporadically) … I’m back! 🙂

I know it, and you know it, but I just wanted to make a note of it on my blog:

There. Duly noted.

Oh, SANDY

Oh, SANDY

Hurricane SANDY, that is. Not my mother. 😉

According to the Daily News paper which I had picked up on Sunday, this is where the evacuation areas were located:

This is where we are located on the island:

Our area of residence

We are on the west side of George Washington HS, and not in an area that needed to be evacuated.

Thankfully, we are okay here in our apartment. We have power and we have had no flooding.

This is how high up our apartment is:

We had intense wind and rain yesterday and moderate wind and rain today. We are very lucky to be living in the highest point in Manhattan. Power grids are down in large portions of the city and New Jersey, the MTA (subway) is shut down due to flooding, busses have yet to start running (clean-up is still going on) … this was a devastating storm and will take a lot to get everything back to normal.

Thoughts go out to all affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Sunny blue skies, cool air … we’d lived in NYC for a whole week! Started off as a perfect day, until the country was turned on its ear.

Thinking of all the victims of 9/11 today.

Taking a little hiatus

Taking a little hiatus

I have been so bad at posting. The reason? Mainly because of major fatigue (my body has been under the weather for a month). So, I’ll resume posting in a few weeks (maybe earlier if I start feeling normal again). In the meantime, here is a preview (teaser) of what’s to come:

Intrepid, Sea, Air, and Space Museum

Hopefully, I’ll be back to my normal (and witty) self again, soon! 🙂
