After many weeks and weeks of poor health, I am happy to report that I am FINALLY pretty much back to normal. I won’t commit to that yet, but I feel pretty good! 🙂
I just wanted to do a little shout out to my Dad, who was cringing when I told him I was singing Christmas carols while baking chocolate chip cookies. It is only October, for goodness sake! 😉
I will try to blog more going forward. I still need to clean up the posts that are currently up there. Chris was very, very helpful in finding my pictures that had disappeared while transferring to the new blog. They are up there now (THANK YOU, CHRIS). Now I just need to go through and categorize them correctly.
Slowly, but surely (and sporadically) … I’m back! 🙂
I’ve improved quite a bit since my last post about my health! 🙂
I’m able to walk steadily and strongly on my own (Chris and I walked for 45min in Fort Tryon Park this morning), I’m able to help around the house (cleaning and cooking – doesn’t sound like a blast but when a person WANTS to help after so much time being physically unable, it is!), I can focus on reading books and magazines (my vision was messed up for a while, off and on), and I’m slowly putting on weight (I was down to 119 lbs on my 5 foot 8½ inch frame, and I’m up to 125 lbs).
The only things that haven’t fully come back yet are my hands (I’ve been working with my neurologist with everything during this whole 3 month long episode). I can use them pretty much, but my dexterity is lacking. I tried using chopsticks the other day. Ha! Silly girl. I just couldn’t hang on to them like I usually can. I still have to type using one finger at a time, too. I’m getting a little quicker at it, though:
Still not 65WPM (when I’m feeling normal), but better than 17WPM or even 3 or 2 (I had that happen when I tried touch typing today). All in due time!
Many, many thanks to Chris who has been so patient and caring and strong though the last few months of this crazy illness. I really don’t know what I would do without you.
I haven’t posted since Valentine’s Day. I’ve had what started as a cold on February 3rd which ended up being a virus. Then Lyme showed up – AGAIN. Coupled with other viruses, I ended up with a perfect storm of illness. I took a trip through a bunch of neurological symptoms including vertigo, vomiting, brain fog /cognitive issues, problems walking, problems swallowing, vision issues, hands not working well …
I’m better now – FINALLY! Thank you to Chris – my rock! Thank you for taking care of me when I was at my worst and even when I’m at my best. I love you! I function at about 95% healthy now. It’s been a rough few months. I’ll blame it on the weather (and viruses and such).
I’ll try to post more when I can (I’m typing slower than my usual 65WPM – I can only use one finger at a time).
My walking is improving, and with the neurologist’s okay I can eat whatever I want to help put on weight that I lost through all of this (I’m down to 120lbs when I am usually 135lbs or so).
I decided to take a walk to Dunkin’ Donuts both to build strength with the walk, and to build weight with a doughnut. And some cookies. AND some iced bottled coffee. 🙂
